Pebble Creek Wins Best Golf Course Award
To the entire Pebble Creek Team:
Thank you for another perfect golf tournament. Once again, every aspect of our event was outstanding.
The new banquet room is fantastic for any event and provided plenty of room for the
pre-tournament breakfast, registration tables, and room to set up all the prizes and awards.
We arrived in the early darkness of the morning and before the sun came up the carts were ready, the banquet room prepared, and the staff eager to assist. The staff put out our hole signs, provided tables at par three holes for volunteers, set out the coolers, and continually assisted throughout the day.
The course conditions were magnificent and the food and bar service was the best.
The entire team of professionals at Pebble Creek team provided first class service!
We take great pride in our events and will continue to return to Pebble Creek for our annual Golf Tournament.
We highly recommend Pebble Creek for a golf tournament, individual play, weddings, or any other event. The setting is beautiful, the service is perfect, and people are wonderful.
Again thank you !

" Your customers service of late is fantastic! Keep up the good work. Everyone from the front desk to the starter to the pub. Oh yeah and the young lady on your beverage cart, she's awesome."
– Randy T.
"I recently traveled to the Tampa area for a short business conference. I live in Wisconsin and we don't get to play much golf around here in mid December. So I decided to squeeze in some golf on the front and back end of my meetings. It was a decision I will never regret. In fact, a couple of rounds of golf turned into more of a life experience. My compliments to you and your staff. The course was very nice and your club house and bar area are very comfortable. The bartenders, beverage cart personnel, starters and so on, were all very polite, friendly and accommodating. But the icing on the cake was the over the top service and hospitality that I received from your assistant pro, Carl Scott. I would also like to thank your on site pro, Shawn Gordon."
"Thank you for your organization regarding the USAA Golf Tournament last weekend. We had plenty of positive feedback about the course, food and helpful service. We really appreciate all that you did to help us run a successful tournament. We look forward to contacting you regarding future tournaments.

As we continue to examine some of the fine courses in the Tampa Bay region of Florida, we’ll concentrate on a venerable course that’s been around for many years. It is Pebble Creek Golf Club, located in the northeast area of Tampa, one of the oldest courses in the area. They recently underwent extensive renovations (2006) and have improved the facility greatly. It’s a sporty course featuring a very solid layout that plays 6,436 yards to a par of 71.
The scenic layout begins with a 370 yard par 4 with the second shot over a creek. #2 is a strong 193 yard par 3 that forces you to contend with a big tree on the left.
To play #3 well, you’ll need to work the ball left to right off the tee. This 400 par 4 is a solid test. #4 is a 368 yard par 4 which is best played by favoring the left side of the fairway, but water lines the left side, so caution is necessary. A tee shot to the right will block your approach to the green because of woods lining the fairway on that side.
Number 5 requires a tee shot over water and an approach shot over water as well. Number 6 provides respite in the form of a 160 yard par 3. Number 7 is a straightaway par 4 of 372 yards with water on the left. The 8th hole is the first par 5 on the course at 504 yards. There is water on the left, but it shouldn’t come into play. The third shot carries a creek.
The front 9 finishes with a strong, 434 yard par 4 that requires a tee shot down the right to right center to avoid being blocked by trees on the left as the hole bends left.
The back 9 gets going with a neat little par 4 of 367 yards. It’s a good birdie opportunity, but you must place your tee shot down the right side to avoid being blocked on your second shot.
On #11 you don’t want to pull your tee shot or it will meet a watery grave. It’s a straightaway par 4 of 385 yards. Number 12 offers a nice par 3 of 168 yards with a tricky green. The 13th hole is a lovely par 5 that sports water protecting the green, making reaching it in 2 difficult.
Number 14 is only 346 yards at par 4, but placing your tee shot is imperative. Number 15 plays 181 yards at par 3 and you must be below the hole on your tee shot. Number 16 is a good birdie chance at 360 yards at par 4.
The penultimate hole, #17, is a wonderful par 5, requiring an accurate tee shot. There is water along the left and the driving area is tight.
Number 18 is a fine finishing hole at 394 yards. Pebble Creek runs in front of the green, making an accurate approach a must.
Pebble Creek is a fine test and a must play when you’re in the Tampa area. The club has lovely amenities, good dining and a terrific atmosphere.

It’s Time to Re-Discover Pebble Creek Golf Club, by Bob Hunt
Apparently, the word has leaked out among the local golfing community about Pebble Creek Golf Club. The old course in North Tampa has made some changes – a lot of changes – and judging by the number of cars in the parking lot – people like it, and like it a lot.
Sure, some people will admit Pebble Creek was not exactly on the top of their list of golf courses to play – for reasons I won’t go into. But all that changed when Ace Golf Range owner Bill Place recently purchased Pebble Creek. After buying the course last year, he immediately invested more than $1 million into it, and it shows – big time. Before you even tee it up, you’ll notice a gigantic new veranda built off of the old restaurant, which will instantly grab your attention. While seated under the veranda, you can oversee much of the course and enjoy watching other golfers teeing it up on No. 1 and 10 from this magnificent vantage point.
If you’d like to grab a snack or drink before you tee off, you won’t even recognize the old restaurant. Not only did Bill open the place up, but he laid down beautiful hardwood floors throughout – magically transporting you to Ireland.
It’s now called Mulligans Irish Bar and Grill, and from the paintings on the walls, to the beams of the rafters, to the custom-built, one-of-kind wrap-around bar – you’ll think you’re back in the old country. Whether you’ve been there before or if it’s your first time – the place is truly remarkable. So after a great round of golf or turning nine when it suddenly starts to rain, there’s not a better place to get out of the weather and swap golf stories with old friends and some new ones.
There’s also a neat little place called the Liars’ Den, which was once card room. It boasts two beautiful pool tables, a large flat-screen TV above the fireplace, leather seating and a gorgeous view of the course.
So, now you’re ready to tee it up. First things first – make sure your state-of-the-art GPS system, installed in every cart and included with your greens fees, is turned on and ready to go. Notice how all four of the tee boxes are bright green and freshly seeded with the latest Australian Celebration grass. If it hasn’t quite sunk in yet, your approach shot to the new Champion Bermuda Ultra Dwarf greens will make you keenly aware something is different here – and it’s all good.
The course’s layout was always a favorite, and not much has been changed regarding it. The course has a lot of water – in fact, there’s water on every hole except No. 9. That, along with its many doglegs, beautiful landscape of towering pines and majestic oaks, and of course, the wildlife – to me, that’s what makes a good course a great one.
With General Manager Dennis Bowman now in charge, Pebble Creek is a premier golf course all the way around. From everyday golf, to the many tournaments held there, to the wonderful conference and meeting facilities – this is a place to bring your family for dinner or to hang out with your golfing buddies.
And Bill’s not finished yet. All bunkers are being replaced, cart paths are getting a facelift, and Bill’s even looking into having a new drainage system installed in the near future.
